NEW ENERGY SOLUTIONS TO PROVIDE ENERGY EVERYWHERE
Michele Greca, Ascot Industrial ‘s CEO, was guest to Kathy Ireland anchorwoman of “worldwide business” to talk about the new energy solutions proposed by Ascot Industrial.
Michele explain how Ascot works to provide energy everywhere in any conditions. Shown below the Michele Greca’s interview who introduces your own company and shows the Ascot generators production efficiency for guarantees backup power in any conditions and the key importance of green energy for backup and primary power application.
Michele will you please tell us more about Ascot Industrial and what energy solutions you provide to your customers?
“Despite the English-sounding name, Ascot stands for an Italian company in accordance with the Made in Italy tradition. Ascot was founded by Luigi Greca in 1986. After 20 years working in the oil fields and refineries in Italy and Africa he decided to set up his own company specialized in tailor-made power solutions with the sound policy of applying innovative technology to all of Ascot’s products.
We provide the “Extra Mile”. The “Extra Mile” concept is at the core of the Ascot philosophy, and is a unique concept, a sort of cultural imprinting of the company ethos that cannot be copied because it does not exist as a standard model. It is generated instantaneously at the moment of the customer’s need through the relationships we develop with our clients around the world.

Can you please describe how traditional backup power systems are outdated?
“Nowadays, the rapid development of the technologies makes traditional back up power out-dated.
In the past we used to have a simple generator ready to start in case of power cut. Today, backup power systems have a more active role as a sort of home micro grid where generator, storage batteries and solar panels are integrated in an intelligent way to guarantee the continuity of the service, independent from the grid and for a long time especially during natural disasters.
In fact, the America’s electric grid is old and it has many enemies as storms like Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Katrina. The potential for disruption from earthquakes or cyber-attack, and other factors such as simple equipment failure due to the age of the grid.
‘Integration’ is the key concept, where all the devices must be connected and integrated with other technologies; Energy efficiency plus machine to machine connectivity is the basis of what Ascot is making for the past few decades”.
We like to say that we may not be the biggest, or even the smartest – but we do make all of the mistakes first!

Can you please highlight how ascot is working to protect your customers from energy interruption?
“Ascot has designed their telecom, commercial and industrial energy systems to work in demanding parts of the world lacking electrical grids and good roads such as we enjoy in America. Not only are these systems rugged and low maintenance, but they are also designed to be cost effective and to incorporate ever increasing amounts of renewable energy solutions.
We help to protect our customers by making sure their equipment works well under extreme conditions.
With our equipment’s efficiency and ability to include locally produced energy such as solar power, we are able to extend the running times of our backup systems”
Michele, would you please describe the role of green energy in back up and primary power application?
“Our Back Up Power guarantees the continuity of electric service while also respecting the environment.
Moreover, our fuel efficiency enables longer back up time in case of natural disasters when the traditional energy source would be absent. In the back up category we have developed a self-sustaining system capable to running independently for 3 months disconnected from grid power, and in that case the backup would be flexible and efficient enough to run as the main source of power.
Green energy solutions also provides long term energy cost reductions:
- You reduce the amount of grid energy you import into your building, as solar power offsets your power consumption during the day.
- You reduce or hedge your exposure to potential future price increases from utility power by lowering the amount of energy you require from distant sources every day.
- You extend the amount of time which your generator will run in an emergency as the system requires less on-site fuel, because part of your power is coming from the sun.”
Can you please give us a brief overview of where you see energy solutions going over the next 20 years?
“Being visionary is the most difficult part of our job but if you have a great fantasy you can imagine the future, then you will be the interpreter and creator of your imagination;
On 2006, with one of our clients in Africa we dreamed a generator able to produce power even when the engine was off. From that dream we built the first DC Hybrid system for the telecom industry that became a reality at large scale in 2015. This has begun decade of vision, daily dedication and strong perseverance especially you estimate that it’s going wrong and you wish to gives up.
If you will look at the next 20 years from today, we could say that the creating progress is the capacity to efficiently store energy in large quantities. The technology in this segment has stops 10 years ago.
The energy storing is as the water storing, most of the people are familiar with that and can easily understand that concept.”
The new technologies in batteries will soon permit everyone efficiently store energy in a small box with high capacity and this will change the world. We know and take it into the future.
