ASCOT’S GENERATORS ALL OVER THE WORLD
“In our company, we always try to imagine the future through research and studies of new technologies, observing the needs of people worldwide.
I remember in the year 2006, with one of our clients in Africa” – Michele Greca speaks about generators production – we dreamt a generator able to produce power even the engine was off. From that dream we built the first DC Hybrid system for the telecom industry which became an international energy solution reality on 2015.
This event was the beginning of a decade of visions, daily dedication and strong perseverance especially if you think it’s going wrong and you wish to gives up”.
There is still a role for natural gas, LPG, and diesel generators in the back up and prime power energy sector
Any systems require a balance between performance and cost (OPEX & CAPEX) to make it saleable. Commonly available forms of fuel such as natural gas, LPG and diesel can be stored on site and replenished also after the worst situation of emergency when fuel is over to restore the utility power.
A generator is to a certain extent fuel-powered battery – our systems work with different fuels like LPG and natural gas, which provides cleaner power and less maintenance.
Ascot works with clients to customize the right balance of these options so we can together maximize performance, cost and safety.
HYBRID
The design life of Ascot hybrid energy system
Our generators are designed to work 10 years without a major overhaul, it means that after the first overhaul the system could be able to work for another 10 years. Many components of the new hybrid energy systems are warrantied for ten or more years that provides stability and consistency for our customer’s long range planning.
The Ascot hybrid energy offering is greatly grown over the last five years in the developing countries, mainly in Africa and the Middle East. In the last year we began serving off-grid telecom towers in the West America.
We are able to leverage the different markets in many ways. All over experiences overseas and our mistakes allow us to get different know-how which today we are proud of involve it on our marketing strategy. Recently we have begun deploying LPG systems adapted to American market to serve our large customer based in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
Ascot is always learning and tailoring our designs to the special and unique needs of our customers across the globe.
TELECOM GENERATORS
Telecom project in the US that uses our Hybrid technologies
We are currently supplying mobile power systems to mobile telephone networks in Southern California. These power systems are used to boost wireless capacity at sporting events and music festivals.
We are supplying hybrid energy systems to off-grid towers which cover remote areas such as mines and national parks in the western US, or sites where the network comes hardly such as those on mountain tops.
Our systems are made with LPG engine with a hybrid solar power and advanced battery system, which is environmentally much more friendly than diesel and requires much less maintenance.
This approach has provided a reliable, digital, green and efficient service where the fuel is cannot be delivered to the site for over half a year.
POINS
An example of a recent power injection system application in a larger project
POINS or Power Injection System is a new technology innovation by Ascot. It’s four quadrant inverter allowing us to connect solar energy, wind power, battery power, and generators power.
The POINS allows to smooth out the power flow for such times when, for instance, clouds obscure the sun and the level of solar electricity in the system drops.
We recently used this application for the islands: with 2 megawatts of hybrid solar in the Indian Ocean, what is known commonly as micro-grid.
This system allows us to inject power back into the grid or to the customer’s system in a dynamic and balanced way, so Ascot can provide both backup power and the grid balancing services.
INSTALLATIONS
The most remote and challenging hybrid energy applications
We are working in 59 developing countries in Africa, Middle East and Asia such as Sudan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Tanzania and Myanmar where most challenges are due to adverse environmental conditions:
In Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, for example, there are temperatures over 130 °F in the shade; high tended by the sand that enters into the electronics.
In Tanzania we face the coastal salt air to the remote areas where the native tribes and safety are the most difficult situations;
In Nigeria we have a big project with a tower company with 15,000 sites. Here logistics and safety are the challenges.
In Myanmar, last year we deployed over one 1400 power systems. Here the challenge was deploying equipment where no roads exist. Our energy solution could be disassembled and carried by hand or by animals beyond traditional transport
To overcome all these difficulties, we have developed self-sufficient systems, remotely controlled by cell phone connection, that are easy to install and maintained even by unskilled people.
That is the added value of Ascot: Energy Everywhere.
